Exploring our grief through movement with Dominique
Moving to music can be a powerful way of communicating with all parts of our complex selves. It allows us to release tension and anxiety and offers a way to integrate the complex connections within our minds, bodies, and emotions. It can also help us to move emotional energy that can sometimes become blocked, harming us. Multiple accepted therapeutic practices are based on this premise and offer a significant degree of physical and emotional healing.
It is important to remember that our bodies are already in a constant state of healing. All the estimated 37 trillion cells in our bodies are humming with energy & purpose. It is our responsibility, in partnership with our bodies, to help create the most supportive and loving environment possible for this healing to continue.
This body-friendly workshop offers “feel-good,” accessible, and adaptable movement suitable for all ages. We will start with a gentle warmup, move into our “get moving” songs and finish on the floor with gentle stretching and relaxation. The music is an eclectic mix of genres including world dance, jazz, and alternative –inviting introspection and joy — and meeting you wherever you are in your grieving journey, moment by moment. No prior experience is needed and you are invited to move along barefoot if you wish.
This workshop is FREE to attend but registration is required. A Zoom link will be sent once you register. This is not a therapy session. This is a safe space for those grieving to explore another avenue to release, be curious about, and sit with their grief through movement.
