On Saturday, June 20th, 2026 from 1-4pm GrieveWell will host Ann Arbor’s only kite festival at Lillie Park. Register for the event in advance to assure yourself a parking spot and expedited entry to the event.
Join us this year as we celebrate the joy of the outdoors and the whimsy of kites. While early registration is encouraged, all are welcome, and you will be able to register on site as well.

Kite Festival Activities You Don't Want To Miss
Professional Kite Flyers
We are excited to bring the joy and whimsy of kites to our community this year and urge you to join in! Bathrooms will be available. Bring water and a folding chair or blanket, and sit back and enjoy the beauty of the kites.
Jon Trennepohl, co-owner of Kites and Fun Things, will be there with his team of kite flyers. Members of the Windjammer’s Kite Team will also be on hand to dance their kites across the sky.
Family Fun Activities
The festival will feature crafts, activities, and food.
Pittsfield Township Parks and Recreation | Join us for rock painting where you can share a message of hope, a memory of a loved one, or whatever lifts your heart (while supplies last). All painted rocks will dry in a designated area for you to pick up at the end of the event.
SCRAP Creative Reuse | SCRAP is a non-profit dedicated to creative recycling and upcycling of materials that are headed for the landfill. SCRAP will have a variety of materials that can be assembled and glued onto your Kite Poster or Flyer. Collage papers, glittery things, ribbons, and stickers will all be available for everyone to decorate. We will also have some kits for purchase that include collage packs, kite tail makers, and more!
Fit4Mom | Offering fitness classes for moms at every workout level and stage of motherhood from pregnancy workouts through postpartum and beyond. Fit4Mom will provide an active movement obstacle course at the Kite Festival.
GrieveWell | We will offer our memory kite kits to color and hang on a window or our memory wall, some fun giveaways, and a limited supply of $5 Frustrationless Flyers, plus items for purchase and other ways to support our work.
Food and Drinks for purchase will include Top Dog Hot Dogs and Kona Ice.
Kite Coloring Contest
We invite all the creative students to submit their decorated kites digitally and share the voting link with family and friends. Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade can submit their artwork at the festival, and we will again be working with local schools and summer camps to make submissions as well.
Help us raise awareness about GrieveWell and have a chance to win gift cards for yourself and your school.
Changes Kites Activity
Create a Changes Kite to explore the unique change you have experienced after a loss. This activity is provided by Ele’s Place, an organization that helps children and families as they cope with loss.
Kites for Sale!
Purchase a Frustration-less Flyer Kite Kit for $5, easy to build and fly for any age. These will be available for curbside local pickup and at the Kite Festival at Lillie Park on Saturday, June 20th, 2026 from 1-4pm.
Fly and Remember
Join us for an in-person Fly and Remember Memorial Service hosted in partnership with GrieveWell, Arbor Hospice, and Ele’s Place.
Participants will build and decorate a kite in memory of a loved one, engage in featured readings from special guests, and share memories during a pre-festival event at Lillie Park in Ann Arbor on Saturday, June 20th, 2026 from 12-1pm (festival starts at 1pm).
