SUMMARY:Exploring our grief through art with Kathleen Buday
DESCRIPTION:\nExploring Grief Through Expression(ism)\n\nJoin us as we explore how to visually externalize one’s grief using expressionistic techniques. You will be guided through a simple activity that invites conversation and connection. All are welcome, from no art experience to the seasoned artist.\nParticipants will need:\n\nPiece of mixed-media paper, around 11 x 14 (thicker, like card stock)\nMasking Tape (ideally, low-tack like painter’s tape)\nOil pastels\nColored markers (optional)\nAny other materials you want to use\nYou’ll also need a paper and pencil/pen for reflections\n\n… and a comfortable, quiet space.\nThis workshop is FREE to attend but registration is required. A Zoom link will be sent once you register. ( https://grievewell.nationbuilder.com/grief_art_may2026 ) This is not a therapy session. This is a safe space for those grieving to explore another avenue to release, be curious about, and sit with their grief through art.\n\n\nVisit us at www.grievewell.com ( http://www.grievewell.com/ ) for more online events ( https://grievewell.com/calendar/ ) and resources ( https://www.grievewell.com/resources/ ).\nMore about the workshop facilitator: This workshop will be facilitated by Kathleen M. Buday, MEd, ATR-BC.\nKathleen is a board-certified art therapist and sole proprietor of Healing with Heart in Michigan. She has practiced for over 20 years with diverse populations including adults with HIV/AIDS, hospice patients and families, youth, adults coping with cancer, and bereaved individuals.\nThrough her work, Kathleen has promoted the value of the arts as a means of expression for all ages and abilities. She has witnessed how images have a unique non-threatening way to connect people and provide insights into our similarities as human beings. It has become her passion to help others to feel seen and heard, and to heal.\nKathleen publishes and presents on the topic of art therapy. She’s currently an adjunct professor for Wayne State University’s Art Therapy Program. To learn more about Kathleen visit www.kathleenbuday.com ( http://www.kathleenbuday.com/ ).\n
